Early mornings are the most peaceful time in the Smokies! Especially, if you are going to popular with swimmer location, and the heat is 90 degrees - at about 10 am any river will be filled with bathers. And I don't blame them! Myself, I frequent swimming holes all over the Smokies! Cold mountain river is the best way to cool off when heat is unbearable
Jessica and Tyler decided to take their anniversary photos by the most spectacular river in the Great Smoky Mountains, so we made sure we got there as early as possible. And we only had one swimmer, that was hiding from us behind the rocks! I consider this a win for the Greenbrier beach swimming hole

Last October, Jaylinn travel to Gatlinburg with only one purpose - to get her senior photos done. As we were driving to the location. We got separated and it took us more then 2 hours to finally find each other.
Despite the set back, our session went fantastic! 
Elkmont has many gorgeous locations to take photos at, and October painted everything with gold!

Gatlinburg overlook is one of my favorite locations! 
But I don't usually offer it due to many factors: gnats are horrible, too many people around, not very safe with small children, mountains look washed out on the sunny days. But on rainy days it is very beautiful. 
Originally, we planned river location. But it wasn't accessible due to the recent rain. Gatlinburg Overlook was spectacular right after the rain!  Even the gnats were there, we were able to get all shots and a lot of smiling faces!

When heat settles in, many of popular locations by the rivers will be taken over by swimmers as early as 10 am. If you like this spot by mountain river in Greenbrier, you may need to be there as early as 8 am in the morning, but it's worth it!
Another great early morning location is Gatlinburg overlook. Spectacular views! Although mountains look better on the overcast days

Elopement style session for just two of you is a wonderful idea! You get an adventure and a lot of photos in your wedding dress
You can get married back home and just bring your dress for more photos, or you can get married here in the Smokies. Remember, that if you like to get married (to have your ceremony) at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you have to file for a special wedding permit with the Park, which cant take at least 2 months to proceed
If you are just brining the dress, no additional permits are required, as I am a licensed photographer for Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Most of my clients travel to the Smokies and often not sure what location would work best for their family. Here's a list of my favorite family session locations with the best time to take photos at
On overcast days, any time of the day will work, but on sunny days there are better times for each location

Foothills Parkway offers many beautiful locations that are not only spacious enough for larger families, but also safe to take photos at with smaller children.
​Best time photos here is closer to sunset on the sunny days. 

With a cute bridge and a small rock beach, this location is great with small children - we can either keep them away from the water, or let them play near river for additional fun shots! 
Gatlinburg trail is a pet friendly trail. If you have a dog that you'd like to bring to the session, make sure to mention that and we can schedule an early session while the trail is mostly empty!
For families without pets, best time to shoot is either early in the morning, or 4-6 pm in the summer time and may vary throughout the year 

Views of Gatlinburg Overlook show best with overcast or moody weather. Although, on the sunny days i would recommend either sunrise or sunset

Mountain river really shows off in the sun, with the best time between 8 am to 11 am, depending on the time of the year. Evening sessions are also available, with best time between 4-6 in the summer

There are so many different spot to take photos at the Cades Cove! So there is no best time particularly. For the best light, I prefer to either start at the sunrise, or come closer to the sunset. Cades Cove is a magical place, and attracts a lot of tourist. Being first or last can help beating the crowds

Swann Plantation Wedding Venue hosted this silent auction, where more then $10,000 were raised for new building for Sevier Animal Care Center. Many local artists, businesses, residents and guests of our county donated not only items for the auction, but also food and their time

Last year's adoption event at the Aquarium of the Smokies. Kissing booth with a puppy was a great success! 
Best part of being a volunteer photographer for Sevier Animal Care Center (besides getting to pet all the dogs and the cats when I take photos of them for adoption) is getting to meet all the wonderful kind people of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. There are a lot of kind folks who lives in the county and who does a lot for the lost pets of Sevier county. And I am very proud to be a part of and give back to the community with my photography craft!

Gatlinburg overlook is one of the best spots to catch a sunrise in the Great Smoky Mountains. And what could be more romantic, then sunrise proposal with the view? Many proposals happen here at the sunrise, before the crowds start to flow

Cades Cove is such a magical place! Beside luscious Great Smoky Mountains views that are great reason to visit on its own, there is a huge chance to see horses, deer or other animals that make Smokies their home. Remember to keep fair distance to any animals you may see! 
For the family session with smaller children, my best advise is to take breaks as needed, and have favorite snacks ready!
For this session, we also stopped at 2 locations that had easy access from the car, so if kids were starting to get hot, we could just move to next location and have a little break from heat

Views of Foothills Parkway are spectacular at any season! Many couples choose to take a ride along the ridge of the mountains as a part of their engagement or elopement session.

If you are looking for mountain river scenery, Greenbrier of the Smoky Mountains has the most spectacular photo locations near water. Ideal for romantic couple sessions, dreamy maternity portraits, and senior photos as well with. Trees and mountains provide beautiful light, cold water makes summer heat more tolerable, although, it gets dark faster down by the river.

Do you love The Village in Gatlinburg as much I do? 
Charming, with many options for photos, The Village gets crowded. Although, it's worth it!
Dana and Jeff had ceremony at the chapel and went out to walk around Gatlinburg after!

Dana works at the Candy Factory back home, so stop by at the candy store was a must!

​Most locations of Smoky Mountains are withing 1 hour from Gatlinburg. Cades Cove may not be always accessible, and takes much longer to get in and out of the Cades Cove Loop in the busier season.

Amber and David got engaged in Gatlinburg, TN 5 years ago, and they got married just 2 days after at one of the little chapels at the Gatlinburg's Arts and Crafts Community. For their 5 year anniversary, Amber wanted to surprise her husband with a wedding dress, since she didn't get to wear one on her wedding day
For vows exchange, they chose Gatlinburg Trail. We also did couple more stops for photos along the Newfound Gap road. With many options to choose from for spectacular photo locations that are close to the parking spot or right at the parking, this is one of my favorite roads to take couples for their photo adventures!
