Gatlinburg overlook is one of my favorite locations! 
Usually, I don't offer it due to many factors: gnats are horrible, too many people around, not very safe with small children, mountains look washed out on the sunny days. But on rainy days it can look very beautiful with clouds and soft light!
Originally, we planned river location. But it wasn't accessible due to the recent rain. Gatlinburg Overlook was spectacular right after the rain!  Even the gnats were there, we were able to get all shots and a lot of smiling faces!

When heat settles in, many of popular locations by the rivers will be taken over by swimmers as early as 10 am. If you like this spot by mountain river in Greenbrier, you may need to be there as early as 8 am in the morning, but it's worth it!
Another great early morning location is Gatlinburg overlook. Spectacular views! Although mountains look better on the overcast days
